Wainwright wins putting tournament

Chris Wainwright of McPherson won the 11th annual putting tournament at the Pine Edge Golf Course near Goessel June 27.

Sponsored by Hustler Turf Equipment, this year?s event drew 26 contestants putting for the coveted green vest and a Pine Edge punch card for 15 rounds of golf.

The total payout of cash and prizes worth $280 was divided among Wainwright and the next four highest finishers: Andy Schroeder of Cheney, Rick Glock of Towanda, Mike Cavanough of McPherson and Gerald Voth of Los Angeles. No one won the Hustler mower.

Follow?ing the putting tournament, Pine Edge played host to a two-person scramble. The top five two-person teams were: Kelly Blomburg and Casey Cheek first; Dalton Ayers and Jensen Kingsley second; Chet Roberts and Leroy Koehn third; and Mike Cav?anough and Brett Rey?nolds fourth.

The golfers were treated to a meal sponsored by Cross?roads Credit Union and catered by Keith?s Foods of Goessel.
