Three return for PBHS golf

The Peabody-Burns golf team has a small squad this season, but hopes to find success as individuals.
“I’m excited about my three letter-winners,” coach Jim Pohlman said. “But I only have eight kids going out this year.”
Returning for the Warriors are senior letter-winners Matt Hiebert, McKenzie Ensminger and Tommy Morris.
“Their scholastics and their team leadership encourage the younger ones, so I depend on them,” Pohlman said.
Though they may be small in numbers, Pohlman hopes the Warriors will be mighty on the scoreboard to compensate.
“I have four who are shooting in the low 90s, so when we shoot below 90 we’ll be in competition,” he said.
Pohlman said even if the team doesn’t qualify for state, he wants to qualify at least one or two individuals.
“When we were playing sand greens, we went to state every year, and we’ve not made it yet in grass greens,” Pohlman said. “I’m excited for the year. I think we’re going to have a great year.”
The Warriors are scheduled to compete April 3 at the Herington Invitational.
