The Canton-Galva baseball team hopes to improve last year’s record with experienced hitters returning.

“I think that this season will be on the up from last season,” coach Darrin Fisher said. “We have three leading seniors, but we also are very young at other positions.”

The three seniors are Kolby Moddelmog, Nick Vogts and Tyler Miller.

Fisher is looking for newcomers Conner Farnham and Tanner Klingensmith to make contributions this season.

He said some strengths for his team this year are unity and leadership from the returning seniors.

But the Eagles will have to overcome the weaknesses inherent in starting young players in the infield and having young arms on the mound.

“Our goals for this season are to compete in each game, improve week by week, and to get into a position to compete during the post season,” Fisher said.

CGHS is scheduled to begin its season with a doubleheader against Bennington April 3.
