Canton-Galva returns almost its entire softball team from last year in the hunt for a state tournament berth this season.

“Our main goal, like most other teams, is to get to the state tournament,” said coach Dale Dvorak, who begins his first year with the Eagles. “I just want to maintain the excellence that has been here.”

Leading the list of returning players is pitcher Aly Bressie, who was 17-5 last season and also batted .500 with five home runs.

The Eagles also return a strong outfield in Leah Schmitz, Jennifer Likes and Erika Smith.

Others coming back include seniors and letter-winners Hannah O’Neil, Brittany Leffler, Lacy Kopf, Addi Marston and Makenzie Farnham.

“I just hope we play our best each and every game and don't hold back,” Dvorak said.

The Eagles’ first opportunity to test their skill will be April 3, when they travel to Bennington.
