For Fritz, 49-80 in seven years at CGHS and 274-145 for his career, that means staying away from injuries, foul trouble, sickness, turnovers and giving up offensive rebounds.
That’s a tall order.
Key to this year’s team are returning starters Kimmy Voth, a 5-foot, 4-inch guard, and Cayla Sommers, a 5-10 post. Voth averaged five points and two rebounds per game while Sommers contributed four points and five rebounds per outing.

But when returning all-state senior Kendra Flaming went down for the season with a knee injury, the challenge for coach Ryan Hoopes and his 2010-11 squad became even more formidable.
“Others will need to step up quickly,” said Hoopes, in his fourth season with the Bluebirds. “It will be interesting to see who fills those spots.”

Even with three starters back, coach Justin Coup said this year’s rendition will have a very different look.
“This group will be completely different than any team we have had,” said Coup, who is in his 13th season at the helm. “We will be very deep at the guard/forward position. Our quickness and ability to handle the ball is a definite asset as we head into the season.”

Among those who made the trek to Hays were five underclassmen who return to the Warriors squad this season.
The lone placer is Colten Johnson. He finished 2009-10 fifth as a sophomore in the Class 3-2-1A 160-pound weight division with a 4-2 record.
Senior Randy Regnier (119 pounds), sophomore Brody Carroll (130) and senior Andy Shipman (135) return this season as state qualifiers last year. Regnier finished 1-2 at Hays and. Carroll and Shipman went 0-2.
Regnier finished the season 24-7, Carroll finished 31-12 and Shipman ended with a 19-12 record.
