Early wins key for TC football success in Gardner’s 3rd year

TCfootballsrsallkcac464 The Tabor College football team will look to the leadership of a large senior class as they strive to move up in the rankings during the third season with coach Mike Gardner back at the Bluejay helm. A Tabor College football team that struggled to gain and sustain momentum last season hopes to hit the ground running this year behind a broad base of experienced seniors.

“We actually have an identity going into the season, which is something we were kind of lacking last year,” said Mike Gardner, who returns for the third season of his second stint as Tabor’s head coach. He led the Bluejays to a 20-3 record as headcoach in 2005 and 2006.

TC volleyball picked as KCAC contenders

TCvolleyball434 A Tabor College volleyball squad that was picked second in the coaches’ preseason poll will be led by these seniors and returning all-conference players: (from left) Hollister Wolf, Abbey Burns, Jessie Vogts, Jessica Wollenburg and Katie Vogts. A hard-hitting Tabor College volleyball squad that fell just two points shy of a conference championship last season is back in the hunt this fall for another title run.

The Bluejays return six upperclassmen and key varsity players, and have added young players to step into the big shoes left by all-conference middle hitter Tina Frick, who graduated last season.

“It’s always really healthy when the majority of leadership in play is coming from your upperclassmen who have been in the program, have honors and who know exactly what you expect,” said coach Amy Ratzlaff, who returns for her 14th season.

Returning seniors include outside hitter Abbey Burns, middle blocker Jessica Wollenburg and outside hitter Katie Vogts.
