“The chemistry on the team is great, and I think this will allow us to identify roles and players to play to their strengths, allowing the team to improve into a competitive team in the Wheat State League,” said coach Darren Schroeder, who returns for his 10th season.
Last year, the Warriors lost in the second round of sub-state after placing...

Written by Katie Morford Tuesday, 30 August 2011 16:11
“Our goals are going to be personal goals because we don’t have enough for a boys’ team or a girls’ team,” said Kim Topham, who returns for her sixth year as coach.
Topham has one runner returning, Zach Preheim Jr.
“(Preheim is) going to look to improve his times; he’s run all these courses before,” she said.“The girls are new to the course. They’re new to the 4K, since they’re freshmen. For one, this is actually her first year to run cross country.
“They’re just going to look to see what they can do, and go from there.”
Topham said the Warriors will set goals and work on them throughout the...
PBHS looking to its returning starters

“We have five returning starters on both sides of the ball, which should help,” said coach David Pickens, who returns for his seventh season. “We also get a senior who could not play last year due to injury.
“Hopefully, both of these key things will help us be successful.”
Brody Kyle, a 6-foot, 3-inch senior, returns at tight end for the Warriors and fellow senior Brent Jones will put his 6-2 frame to use as a guard.
Austin Savage, Lucas Larsen and Hunter Pickens also are back for the offense.
On the defensive side, Kyle and Jones will do double duty as defensive ends. Savage...

Returning for Centre are hitter Anna Weber, hitter Ellie Miller, setter Genesis Rudoph, hitter Cacey Simons and hitter Bryanna Svoboda, all of whom started for the Cougars as sophomores.
Weber received second-team all-league honors last season and Svoboda was named to the...

Written by Katie Morford Tuesday, 30 August 2011 16:06
“We’re going to be kind of young this year,” said coach Kelly Steiner. “We graduated a good class and they will have to be replaced.”
Fortunately, the Cougars have some newcomers who might give them the boost they need.
“Houston Svoboda and Justin Deines have been working hard and will need to step it up this year,” Steiner said.
As returners go, “Trevor Hageberg has worked really hard this summer and has dropped some weight but added strength,” he added. “The Methvin brothers, Kyle and Shane, also are working hard and are starting to come around.”
The Cougars went 9-1 during their regular season...
