The Marion High School volleyball team was bounced out of the sub-state tournament last fall by a high-octane Hoisington team. Marion posted an 8-23 record for the season, and coach Jim Versch’s squad will look to build on the foundations laid in 2007.

With six seniors and four returning starters, Canton-Galva coach Valerie Stout will have a strong core of volleyball players to work with in her first-year on the Eagles’ sidelines.
Letter-winners among the veterans include outside hitter Allie Enns, setter Kaitlyn Bressie and middle hitter Kaitlin Dailey.
Dailey, at 5-foot-11, is the team’s tallest player and junior hitter Brooke Berg also lettered last year.

In Lyle Silsby’s fourth year, the Canton-Galva High School cross-country team, having lost only one runner to graduation, will have four returning letter-winners.
Also, Jesse Evans, who did not run last year, will be running this year. According to Silsby Evans, the team’s only senior, “will help us out a lot.”
