The Hillsboro Trojans girls and boys opened their post-holiday schedule with wins over Haven Friday night in Hillsboro. The girls, behind double-figure scoring from four players, came from behind in the second half to defeat the Wildcats, 53-45. Shannon Kroeker scored eight of her team-leading 13 points in the fourth quarter to spark HHS, which improved to 5-1. Also scoring in double figures were Angela Herzet with 12, Jill Hein with 11 and Angela Kroeker, the Trojans' leading scorer this season, who scored 10 points in the second half after being shut out in the first two periods. Meanwhile, the Trojan boys steadily pulled away from Haven enroute to a 59-35 win. Tyson Ratzlaff scored 19 points to lead Hillsboro; 13 of those points came in the first half. No one else scored in double figures for Hillsboro. Ratzlaff also broke the HHS career record for steals during the era of coach Darrel Knoll.The previous record was 189, set by Eric Jones in 1991. IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL.... The Tabor College men opened the annual Tabor Classic tournament with an 83-70 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State University from Alva,Okla. Tomorrow (Saturday) night, Tabor will play Panhandle State.
