Canton-Galva—The Eagles (0-1) opened their season Friday with a 35-21 loss at Elyria Christian, after a low-scoring first half.
CGHS will participate this week in the Bluebird Classic in Goessel. In pool play the Eagles will take on Elyria Christian at 4 p.m. Tuesday and then Little River at 4 p.m. Friday.
Centre—The Cougars earned a convincing 58-12 victory over St. Xavier Friday in Centre’s season opener.
Returning starters Cacey Simons and Shelby Makovec led their team with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Ellie Miller and Makenzie Deines each chipped in six points.
CHS was scheduled to begin play at the Herington Pre-season Basketball Tournament Tuesday with additional games Thursday and Saturday.
Goessel—The Bluebirds dropped a 60-42 decision at the hands of Inman Friday to begin their season. Jessica Harvey led Goessel with 13 points and pulled down four rebounds. Johanna Hoffman chipped in nine points.
GHS will host the Bluebird Classic this week. The Bluebirds will begin pool play against Central Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and Burrton at 7 p.m. Friday. They will play placement Saturday against a team from the other pool, which includes Little River, Canton-Galva and Elyria Christian.
Peabody-Burns—The Warriors absorbed a 43-20 loss at Chase County Friday to begin their season. Paige Lewis scored seven points, while Rylie McDowell and Rayna Barnes each added four.
PBHS was scheduled to play next in the Marion Classic Monday through Saturday, with pool play games at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday vs. Marion and 7 p.m. Thursday vs. Remington.
