Marion finished the regular season with a tough day at the Heart of America volleyball league tournament. The Warriors lost all five of their matches at Sedgwick.

Sedgwick (32-1) claimed the tournament title. The Cardinals defeated the Warriors, 15-17, 25-20, 25-10, when they hooked up.

“I thought we played Sedgwick the best we had played them this year in the first two sets and taking them to three sets,” coach Deanna Thierolf said. “But we were just inconsistent all day.”

Marion also lost to Ell-Saline 25-12, 25-14, Hutch Trinity 25-18, 25-22, Moundridge 25-22, 22-25, 25-12, and Remington 25-16, 25-14.

Briana Hall led the Warriors with 21 kills, followed by Kaelyn Thierolf with 19, Julia Hall 14 and Katey Ehrlich nine. Ehrlich had 34 assists for kills and Kirsten Hansen had 28.

Megan Richmond led the defense with 34 digs.

Coming—Marion will take a 14-22 record to Halstead Saturday when the Warriors compete in the Class 3A sub-state tournament.

Joining Marion and Halstead in the field will be Haven, Hillsboro, Hutchinson Trinity, Lyons, Sedgwick and Remington.
