Women’s golf tourney draws 38

Sherry Bass and Stephanie Stieben tied for top honors with a score of 71 at the women’s two-person scramble Saturday sponsored by the Hills­boro Golf Association at the local golf course.

The 38 players who participated came from a variety of cities, including Andover, Augusta, Clay Center, Emporia, Hillsboro, Hutchinson, Marion, McPherson, Nickerson, Topeka and Wichita.

One person, in Hillsboro to visit family, came from New Orleans.

Organizers said they received numerous compliments about the quality and condition of the course.
