Lyons man wins Senior Open tourney

Bret Rumler of Lyons was the top medalist at the 38th annual Hillsboro Seniors Golf Tournament Sept. 12 on the municipal course.
Rumler shot a 68 for 18 holes to lead all participants, including his 50-54 age category. David Sheppard of Hillsboro shot the second-best score overall with a 75, and won the 55-59 age bracket.

• 50-54: Bret Rumler, Lyons, 68; David Schmidt, Marion, 79; Gary Andrews, Hillsboro (no score).
• 55-59: David Sheppard, Hillsboro, 75; Ken Johnson, Hillsboro, 76; Don James, McPherson (no score).
• 60-64: Jerry Grant, McPherson, 76; Stan Utting, Hillsboro, 78; Bernie Waner, Peabody, 79.
• 65-69: Gary Winter, 77; Roger Ruark, Lyons, 77; Ron Winter, 77.
• 70-74: Ed Gurley, Lyons, 79; Bill Simms, Lyons, 82; Roger Caldwell, Lyons, 82.
• 75-79: Russ Wade, Wichita, 83; David Weihe, Wichita, 91; Richard Jurgensen, Wichita, 93.
