The Marion baseball team easily took care of business May 8 with a sweep of Hoisington to conclude regular-season play.
The Warriors finished second in the Heart of America league behind Sedgwick with a 10-2 league record and a 15-5 overall record.
The Warriors earned a 15-9 victory in Game 1.
Senior David Helmer set the pace at the plate with three runs batted in, with Ethan Hett and Taylor Heidebrecht each adding two.
Starting pitcher Grif Case allowed five runs and struck out two in four innings. Heidebrecht came in for the last three innings. He struck out five batters while allowing one run.
Marion picked up a 10-2 win in Game 2. Case led the Warriors with three RBIs, followed by Austin Pederson and Dylan Seacat with two each.
Pederson pitched six innings and struck out two and allowed only one run before Hett came in for the final inning.
Coming—Marion, the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament, was scheduled to play the winner of Monday’s first-round game between Moundridge and Ellsworth/Wilson Wednesday at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina.
The Warriors earned a first-round bye for the seven-team tournament.
