Marion sweeps Ell-Saline in home games

The Marion baseball team swept a young Ell-Saline team April 30 at home to improve to 10-2 in the league, 12-4 overall.
Leading the effort against Ell-Saline was Taylor Heidebrecht, who pitched a near-perfect performance in all five innings of Game 1.
He struck out 11 batters, allowing just one hit and walking none.
Heidebrecht also batted in two runs to help Marion to a 10-0 shut-out. Austin Pederson also added two RBIs.
In Game 2, Marion earned a 6-0 blank in six innings before the game was called for lightning.
Caleb Williams and Cole Lewman set the pace at the plate for the Warriors, earning two RBIs each.
Grif Case pitched five innings, walking two and allowing six hits, while striking out six.
Pederson came in for the save in the final inning, allowing no hits or runs.
Inman —Marion split with Inman in a road doubleheader April 24.
The Warriors put up a dominating performance in Game 1 for a 14-4 victory, riding the momentum from a four-run first inning.
Cole Lewman stepped up to the plate for Marion, recording four runs-batted-in for the Warriors.
Caleb Williams also made contributions with three RBIs and David Helmer added two.
Austin Pederson (3-1) pitched five innings for the win, allowing three runs, while striking out five.
The tables turned in Game 2, with Inman edging Marion, 6-4.
Lewman again was strong at the plate with two RBIs for the Warriors and Grif Case hit a home run.
Ethan Hett (3-3) pitched four innings in the loss, allowing eight hits, five runs, while striking out six.
Coming —Marion was scheduled to host Hillsboro Friday to close out regular-season play.
