Canton-Galva —The Eagles competed at the Moundridge CKTL?quint April 10. Both placed fifth, the boys with 15 points and the girls with one point.
For the boys, Trevor Unruh took second in the javelin with a toss of 121 feet, one inch.
The 4x800-meter relay of Austin Bullinger, Justin Hiller, Eli Janzen and Unruh placed third in nine minutes, 48 seconds.
The Eagles were scheduled to compete at Goessel April 17, with events beginning at 4:30.
Centre—The Cougars competed at the Moundridge CKTL quint April 10, with the boys’ team finishing fourth with 21 points and the girls fourth with 56 points.
Earning gold for the girls was Theo Kassebaum in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.7 seconds and Cacey Simons in the high jump, clearing four feet, eight inches.
Taking second was Shelby Makovec in the 3200 (13:27) and Brenna Shields in the 400 (1:09).
Third-place finishers included Kassebaum in the long jump (13-10.75), Simons in the 200 (29.9), Makovec in the 1600 (6:14.5) Shields in the 100 (13.9) and the 4x100 relay team of Simons, Kassebaum, Shields and Ellie Miller (56.4).
Kassebaum competed at the Shocker Pre-State Pentathlon at Cessna Stadium Thursday. She placed ninth out of 15 girls, earning 1, 916 points. Kassebaum won silver in the high hurdles with a time of 16.62 seconds.
The Cougars were slated to compete at the Marion quint April 17 and the Council Grove Invitational Thursday.
Goessel—The Bluebirds hosted their home invitational April 10, with the boys and girls teams both placing fifth with 26 and 16.5 points, respectively.
For the boys’ team, Heath Goertzen placed second in the 3200-meter run in 11 minutes, 38 seconds. The 4x800-meter relay team of Aaron Woelk, Daniel Kristofferson, Robi Kosa and Dane Kruger took second (10:59).
Alex Schmidt took third in the shot put (36-4.5).
Ali Buller and Brittny Czarnowsky earned silver medals for the girls in the 800 (2:40) and the 3200 (13:12).
GHS is scheduled to compete again at home April 17.
Peabody-Burns—The Warriors competed at the Goessel Invitational April 10. The boys’ team scored 46 points and the girls had 24 points, each earning fourth out of five schools.
Seth Topham and Lucas Larsen claimed the only golds for the boys team in the high jump (5-10) and shot put (40-3.25).
Larsen took second in the javelin (140-11) and discus (117-7) and Topham claimed silver in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.6 seconds.
Topham came in third in the 300 hurdles (45.2) and Craxton Kyle earned bronze in the high jump (5-6).
Wiebke Wiese earned silver for the girls in the high jump (4-10). The 4x800-meter relay team, which includes Paige Lewis, Mackenzie Young, Carlee Wentworth and Kelsie Noble, also took second (13:5).
The 4x100 team of Beckah McCullough, Christa Elliot, Wiebke Wiese and Lewis placed third in 58.1.
The Warriors were scheduled to travel to the Hesston quint April 17.
