Marion softball 4-0 for the week

The Marion softball team picked up four straight wins last week with doubleheader sweeps of Hutchinson Trinity and Ellinwood for a 4-4 overall record.
“We played up to our potential,” coach Chad Adkins said.
Ellinwood—The Warriors gained the upper hand early Friday with a 5-2 defeat of Ellinwood in Game 1, riding a three-run third inning.
They followed it with an strong performance in the second game, winning 13-2 with the help of a seven-run second inning.
Annie Whitaker set the pace at the plate against Ellinwood, earning a .500 average with five runs batted in. Montana Percell drove in two.
“We played solid,” coach Chad Adkins said. “Our girls are getting better and better.”
Trinity—Marion started the week strong with a sweep of the Celtics April 3.
The Warriors got their feet under them with a 10-5 victory in Game 1, capping their offensive efforts with four runs in the sixth inning.
They ran away from Trinity in the second game, 15-0. Marion scored every inning, including six runs in the fourth inning.
Annie Whitaker led the offense with four runs batted in. Sam Davies, Chelsea Voth and Balee Shiplet each added three.
Marion also received a strong pitching performance from Megan Richmond.
“Megan pitched great tonight,” coach Chad Adkins said. “Megan dominated on the mound. The bats came alive tonight as well.”
Coming —Marion was scheduled to host Canton-Galva Tuesday, April 10, before traveling to Sedgwick Friday.
