GHS boys grab third

Kylee Nikkel set the tone for the girls with a personal-best shot put of 35 feet, 21⁄4 inches.“Kylee’s shot-put performance was just outstanding today,” coach Vanessa Schroederr said. “She set a career best by 11⁄2 feet.”
For the boys, Weston Hiebert (43.30) qualified for regionals in the 300-meter hurdles race. Travis Fensky qualified for regionals in the 100-meter dash.
Sheldon Goerzen won the 300 hurdles race in 40.59 seconds.
Craig Banman won the pole vault at 12-6. Brett Goerzen claimed third by clearing the same height but in more attempts. Garrett Hiebert won the javelin (167-2) and triple jump (43-21⁄2). He finished fifth in the 400 (54.29).
The 4x100 relay team of Brett Goerzen, Fensky, Sheldon Goerzen and Banman finished first in 44.96. The 4x400 unit took second in 3:33.
