The Warriors won, 6-5, in Game 1.
The game was tied, 2-2, after three innings, but the Wildcats outscored Marion 3-1 in the fourth inning to claim a 5-3 lead.
It was the Wildcats’ last score, however, as Marion added one run in the fifth inning and two in the seventh to win by one in the end.
Kroupa knocked out four hits for the Warriors, and Montanna Percell had one.

Hutchinson Trinity won the event with 42 points, edging Conway Springs by one point. Hillsboro scored 21, followed by Sterling (20), Circle (16), Smoky Valley (15) and Chapman (11).
Coach Stuart Holmes said Faber’s performance was a highlight, given the 14 entries in a combined singles bracket.
“He had three nice wins and played solid in all aspects of the game,” Holmes said.

Written by Don Ratzlaff Tuesday, 09 April 2013 12:54It took a seven-run inning in the seventh inning of Game 2 to give the Hillsboro softball team its first breathing room of the day, as the Trojans left Hesston with a split of their doubleheader Friday.
That late outburst enabled Hillsboro to put away the home team for an 18-8 victory after losing the first game, 7-5.
Swather pitcher Audrey Denno recorded 14 strikeouts in Hillsboro’s Game 1 loss. With Allison Weber pitching effectively for Hillsboro, the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when the Swathers scored two error-aided runs.
Hillsboro rallied for three runs in the fifth when Bradli Nowak’s single drove in Weber and Tena Loewen. Nowak then scored on Madison Klein’s single.

Moundridge—The Warriors welcomed Heart of America league rival Moundridge to town Friday and recorded two wins against the visiting Wildcats.
Marion won, 5-2, in Game 1, scoring all its runs in the second and third innings while holding Moundridge scoreless until a two-run sixth inning.
Taylor Heidebrecht led the Warriors with three RBIs on 3-for-4 hitting.

Marion Relays—Despite a blustery spring wind, both Warrior teams gave strong performances at the Marion Relays Friday.
The Warrior boys won the meet with 126 points ahead of McPherson (118) and Southeast of Saline (97) in a field of 10 schools.
“Once again, our field events were the base of our scoring,” coach Grant Thierolf said. “Our throwers came up big with Nick Meyer leading the way.
“He had a very good throw in the discus, and his shot put is starting to come around. Kyle Palic and Morgan Wheeler are starting to put together some good performances and that is good for us.”
