The 11-5 and 12-2 victories bumped the Trojans’ season record to 9-7.

Hillsboro’s Harry Faber earned a return trip to the Class 3-2-1A state tournament Friday by finishing as the runner-up in the singles division of the regional tournament hosted by Wichita Independent.Faber, who placed ninth at state last season, picked up two victories on the court before losing to two-time state champion Jake Norman of Independent in the finals, 6-1, 6-1.
After receiving a bye in the opening round of 16, Faber defeated Nathaniel Clennan of Hutchinson Trinity, 6-1, 6-0, and Caleb Hendricks of Sterling, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, to reach the title match.

Inman—Marion won Game 1 at Inman Monday, 4-0, but dropped a close, 10-9 contest in Game 2.

Canton-Galva—Marion was never threatened in two run-rule wins at Galva Friday.
“We hit the ball really well and threw strikes,” coach Roger Schroeder said.
The Warriors won Game 1, 23-2. After two scoreless innings, Marion scored seven runs in the third, nine in the fourth and seven in the fifth to prompt the five-inning mercy rule.

A 13-3 victory in six innings followed by a 16-1 rout in four gave the Trojans a 5-1 record for the week and moved their season mark to 14-2 for the season
“It was nice to help the week with more relaxed games,” coach Stephanie Sinclair said.

Jones leads Marion boys to Hesston title

The boys won the team title with 156 points, well ahead of Hesston (85) and Garden Plain (84). The Marion girls placed sixth with 56 points. Hesston won the title with 103.
“Obviously, we were pretty happy with the boys’ team,” coach Grant Thierolf said. “We scored points in almost every event and had numerous (personal records).
“James Jones had a huge day in the jumps, and then proceeded to run his best 200 of the season. He is ready for some big stuff late in the year.”
