Hillsboro Rec plans summer camps for tennis and drama

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission is sponsoring two additional youth events for the summer.

The first is an afternoon drama camp, June 11 to 15, with a performance planned for 7 p.m. Friday, June 15.

The camp will focus on works by well-known authors such as Shel Silverstein and Dr. Suess, who are known for entertaining adults as well as children.

Because the number of participants determines the number of scripts needed, registrations must be turned in by May 18. No late registrations will be accepted.

Registration fee is $20 for grades one through five and $25 for grades six through 12. Students may enroll at school or at Hillsboro City Hall.

The second camp focus on tennis and is intended for youth who have completed grades five through 11. Camp will be July 9 through 13.

Campers will spend most of their time working on fundamentals and doing drills to improve skills. If time allows, campers will also play matches.

Each camper will need to bring a racket and water bottle. The cost of the camp will be $20.
