Canton-Galva—The Eagles scored 28 points in the first quarter en route to a 46-0 whipping of Central Christian at home Friday. CGHS led 40-0 at halftime. The game was called in the third quarter when the Eagles added their final touchdown.
Nick Vogts ran for touchdowns of 41, 33, 11, 32 and 70 yards. Austin Frank and Tyler Miller each scored one TD.
“We were clicking on all cylinders tonight,” coach Darrin Fisher said. “We moved the ball offensively like we wanted to. We still have a lot of areas to improve on but we are heading in the right direction.
“Defensively, it’s always nice to get a shutout. We were physical up front and linebackers played downhill nicely.”
CGHS (1-0) is scheduled to play at Veritas Christian Friday.
Goessel—The Bluebirds found the going tough Friday in a 58-12 loss at Wakefield.
GHS managed just 96 yards of total offense, 65 of which came on 5-of-13 passing by quarterback Trey Schmidt. He also led the team with 18 rushing yards.
Wakefield led 14-0 after one quarter, then exploded for 30 points in the second quarter. The game did not extend to the fourth quarter.
The Bluebirds (0-1) will host Hope Friday.
