With her peers looking on, Savannah Siyajuck (far right photo) prepares to return volley Friday morning during the final day of the week-long Hillsboro Recreation Commission tennis camp. Thirty-six children going into first through fourth grade signed up for the camp, which was led by Bob Woelk with the assistance of recent Hillsboro High School grad Becky Faber. “I'm thinking it is the largest group of young players I have had so far,” Woelk said. “We worked on fundamentals the first four days, then had what I call the tennis Olympiad on Friday. The kids did a great job of being patient waiting in the hot sun. We had a really good week with lots of improvement in skills.” The camp also involved a group of 17 older players in the evening. Also pictured are the efforts of Paul Glanzer (upper left photo) and Delaney Lucero (upper middle) to return volley, and Iris Klein (lower left) and Mikelly Soyez (lower middle) to gather the loose balls and return them to the ball machine.
