The Hillsboro swim team opened the 2008 season Saturday at Hesston, scoring 443 points and placing second to Lindsborg (511). Peabody (315) placed third and Hesston (191) finished fourth.

The Hot Rods, a Hillsboro-based 14-and-under fastpitch softball team, is off to a fast start this summer with a 19-2-2 record so far. The team has won tournaments in Council Grove and Hillsboro, placed second in a Salina tournament and third in a Clay Center tournament.
