Two state titles by Trojan girls was memorable

If success in athletics is measured by championships, the basketball and track programs for the girls at Hillsboro High School easily topped the list of highlights in the area sports world in 2007.
Led by a senior core of JuliAnne Chisholm, Tina Frick and Hannah Marsh, the Trojan girls finished at the top of the heat in Class 3A in both sports.

Kids tourney draws 215 Wrestlers

Seventeen members of the Hillsboro Kids Wrestling Club competed in the annual Hillsboro Takedown Tournament in Brown Gymnasium on Saturday.Two of the wrestlers, Ryan Stepanek and Braden Vogt, won their three-member pool with 2-0 marks. Competing during the day were 215 wrestlers from 21 clubs in central Kansas.
Following are the Hillsboro results by age divsion.
6 & Under: Jarred Rahe 2-1 (2nd), Jax Tracy 0-3 (4th), Iean Hemel 1-2 (3rd), Wesley Shaw 1-1 (2nd).
8 & Under: Benjamin Koop 1-2 (3rd), Jorge Hanschu 0-3 (4th), Lane Hemel 0-2 (3rd), Ryan Stepanek 2-0 (1st), Braden Vogt 2-0 (1st), Tyson Reimer 1-1 (2nd), Nathan Simhiser 2-1 (2nd).

HRC offering 3rd New Year's Run

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission is seeking entrants for the third annual Hillsboro Frostbite Four Mile, to be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 1.Runners will meet at the Hillsboro Scout House located in Memorial Park and follow from there the fun run course that winds through Hillsboro. Runners and walkers are welcome.

Marion USBC Bowling Association and SherBowl Lanes sponsored Marion’s annual 9 Pin No Tap Bowling Tournament Oct. 27-28 and Nov. 3-4.A total of 18 four-member teams and 28 doubles teams participated in the non-sanctioned event at Sherbowl Lanes in Marion.Representatives from both men’s leagues and women’s leagues competed along with members of youth leagues and the public for cash prizes totaling $305, and certificates for individual awards were presented.Team results
