Written by Hillsboro Free Press Wednesday, 05 December 2007 11:54Seventeen members of the Hillsboro Kids Wrestling Club competed in the annual Hillsboro Takedown Tournament in Brown Gymnasium on Saturday.
Two of the wrestlers, Ryan Stepanek and Braden Vogt, won their three-member pool with 2-0 marks. Competing during the day were 215 wrestlers from 21 clubs in central Kansas.

Written by Hillsboro Free Press Wednesday, 05 December 2007 11:52The Hillsboro Recreation Commission is seeking entrants for the third annual Hillsboro Frostbite Four Mile, to be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 1.
Runners will meet at the Hillsboro Scout House located in Memorial Park and follow from there the fun run course that winds through Hillsboro. Runners and walkers are welcome.

Written by Hillsboro Free Press Wednesday, 07 November 2007 11:06The Hillsboro Wrestling Club for kids between 5 and 16 years of age held an informational meeting for parents at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the technology lecture center at Hillsboro High School.
The meeting addressed signing up wrestlers, collecting fees and discussing the upcoming season.
Parents who could not attend the meeting should contact Scott O’Hare, club director, at 947-2378 to make arrangements to sign up and pay fees prior to the first practice at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12.
O’Hare, who is head wrestling coach at Hillsboro High School, will be assisted by USA Bronze Level certified coaches Shawn Edwards and Mark King.

Written by Hillsboro Free Press Wednesday, 07 November 2007 11:01The Hillsboro Recreation Commission will sponsor JAM Basketball again this winter as well as open gym from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Nov. 7, 14 and 28, and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 4, 11, 18 and Dec. 2.
Open gym is for both youth and adult basketball players who would like to play in pick-up games or practice shooting. Participants are asked to bring a separate set of clean basketball shoes to wear on the gym floor and must provide their own basketball.
