Tabor faced three conference opponents last week to wrap up the regular season.
The men hold a 4-3 KCAC record (6-9 overall) for fourth place, while the women are fifth at 3-4 (5-9 overall).
Ottawa—After facing Bethany earlier in the day Saturday, Tabor played a rescheduled game against Ottawa at home. Both the men and the women came back from earlier losses to sweep the Braves.
The Tabor men won, 7-2.
“Key victories were David Simmet at No. 1 singles, Kelyn Vix and Tyler Dort, who won at No. 2 doubles and each (won) their singles (matches),” coach John Ruder said. “Also the brothers Brucks—Jake and Sam—who won at No. 3 doubles as well as taking their singles matches.”
The women defeated the Braves, 5-4.
“The women did not let their loss to Bethany discourage them as they came back to defeat Ottawa in the afternoon,” Ruder said.
“Key players were Becky Faber and Katie Becker who won at No. 1 doubles and then took their singles matches; Anna Friesen and Karly Lindroth Yates, who won at No. 2 doubles, with Anna winning at No. 2 singles as well.
“Marisa Hiett played very well, losing a long three-set match at No. 5 singles.”

“Our women played very well against Bethany, but lost three close matches,” Ruder said. “Becky Faber played strong at No. 1 singles, winning in three sets.”

McPherson—The Bluejays split matches with McPherson last Monday. The women picked up a 5-0 win; the men lost, 9-0.
“Our women won 5-0, since McPherson had only three players and had already lost the match,” coach John Ruder said. “So we played eight-game pro sets against the three women who came.
“Our ladies played strong and with purpose,” Ruder added. “We now need to defeat Ottawa and Bethany to get into the season-ending tournament.”
The Tabor men, meanwhile, lost all nine matches to a talented, 19th-ranked Bulldog team.
“Despite the score, our men played very well,” Ruder said. “Kelyn Vix and Tyler Dort played an outstanding doubles match. David Simmet played strong at No. 1 singles, and Jake Brucks played a very good match at No. 5 singles.”
