The Tabor men?s and women?s basketball teams received their preseason rankings at the KCAC?Basketball Media Day in Wichita Oct. 9.

The men are ranked fourth in both the coaches? and media polls with behind the University of Saint Mary, McPherson College and Ottawa University.

?Its been a great year so far for us because I have three seniors that are back,? coach Micah Ratzlaff said, ?and I?m excited about their ability to lead a young and inexperienced group.?

Returning for the Bluejays will be senior forward Ryan Chippeaux, who was unanimously selected to the 2012-2013 Preseason All-KCAC Men?s Basketball Team.

?(Chippeaux) deserves it, ? Ratzlaff said. ?He works really hard and mentally he?s just really strong. I think that?s what makes him good. He should have a big year.?

Chippeaux is joined on the preseason all-conference team by teammate and classmate Lawson Kingsley.

The Tabor women were ranked sixth in the preseason coaches? poll and seventh in the media poll.

?We are very excited about the upcoming season,? coach Shawn Reed said. ?I think we are going to be better and take some strides forward.

?As far as our preseason ranking is concerned, we can’t control where we are picked but we can control where we finish and that is our focus.?

The Bluejays return senior guard Katelyn Mary, who was unanimously selected to the 2012-2012 Preseason Women?s Basketball team and was ranked sixth in the KCAC in scoring last season.
