The Tabor College baseball team opened the 2013 season at the Dallas Christian College Invitational Friday and Saturday and came away with a 2-2 record.
“Pitching allowed (us) to be successful this past weekend even though we struggled offensively,” coach Mark Standiford said. “I believe we will make some adjustments at the plate and be fine. It’s just frustrating to not take advantage of some very good pitching and only come away with two wins.”
In the first game Friday, the Bluejays defeated Dallas Christian College, 7-6. Tabor followed with a 1-0 victory over fifth-ranked Rogers State University.
Tabor lost twice Saturday, 1-0 to Rogers State and 3-0 to the University of Texas-Tyler.
“We had outstanding pitching all weekend but could not produce many runs,” Standiford said. “Rogers State is a very good team, and to hold them to just one run over 14 innings is quite an accomplishment.
“The only problem is that they did the same to us.”
Coming—Tabor will host Missouri Valley College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
