Canton-Galva—The Eagles (0-1) fell Friday to Elyria Christian, 44-36, in their home season opener. A.J. Medley led the team with 14 points and six rebounds. Austin Bullinger added eight points and eight rebounds. CGHS was scheduled to host Elyria Christian Tuesday before another home game with Little River Friday.
Centre—The Cougars overwhelmed St. Xavier with an 107-36 home win to begin their season. James Wyatt led the charge, shooting 69 percent from the field to rack up 20 points. Justin Deines added 18, Cory Brunzell 15, Ty Simons 13, Kyle Methvin 12 and Kody Johson 11. CHS was scheduled to play at the Herington tournament Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Goessel—Inman got the jump on the Bluebirds with a 23-point first quarter and went on to beat GHS 55-26 in the season opner. Davis Cook led the Bluebirds with 13 points. GHS will host the Bluebird Classic Monday through Saturday, playing Central Christian at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Burrton at 8:30 p.m. Friday in pool play.
Peabody-Burns—The Warriors defeated Chase County Friday, 45-34, at home to start the season. Seth Topham scored 13 points, Hunter Pickens 11 and Christian Gard and Tommy Morris eight each.
PBHS was scheduled to play next in the Marion Classic Monday through Saturday, with pool play games at 7 p.m. Tuesday vs. Marion and 8:15 p.m. Thursday vs. Peabody.
