The Tabor softball team finished regular-season play with a pair of losses to conference opponent Ottawa University at home on senior day, giving the Bluejays an 18-24 record overall this season and a 7-11 record in the KCAC.
“We didn’t end the regular season how we would have liked, but the girls played hard, never gave up and had a lot of heart,” said coach Suzanne Unruh. “We had some great highs this season, so we aren’t totally disappointed.”
The losses come after Bethany swept Tabor in another home doubleheader April 25. The Bluejays were scheduled to play MidAmerica Christian Thursday, but those games were canceled.
Ottawa—Tabor yielded a 12-4 decision in Game 1 Saturday.
Taylor Lowery, Cortnie Killen and Amanda Howe shared honors at the plate with a run-batted-in each.
Tracie Kithcart pitched five innings for the loss, allowing 11 hits and striking out just one.
In the second game, Ottawa earned a 6-2 win with four runs in the sixth inning after going scoreless the preceding innings.
Sarah Massey and Rae’Shon Johnson recorded an RBI each, and Karen Harris pitched seven innings for the loss, allowing six runs and striking out three.
Bethany —Tabor fell to the Swedes in Game 1, 7-5, despite a four-run fourth inning.
Sarah Massey paced the Bluejays with three runs-batted-in, including a homer. Tracie Kithcart took the mound for Tabor, pitching seven innings and allowing seven runs on two strike-outs.
Tabor suffered an 8-0 blank in the second game. Karen Harris pitched 21?5 innings for the loss, allowing five runs and striking out none.
Coming —Tabor was scheduled to play Bethel College May 2 in Hutchinson for the first round of the KCAC tournament. Play begins at 10 a.m.
