“I knew the outcome of the game was going to be in our favor,” said coach Mike Gardner. “We just didn’t come out of the locker room very strong in the second half. We gave them more opportunities than we should have.”

Tabor volleyball clinches home court advantage

The Tabor volleyball team earned back-to-back conference victories on the road this week to secure a home berth for the first round of Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament play.Tabor downed Southwestern College (0-18, 7-22) in a three-game sweep Wednesday, before traveling to Leavenworth to knock out the University of Saint Mary (5-13, 10-23) Friday for its second straight sweep.
With the wins, Tabor improves to a 17-9 overall record and 12-6 in conference play—good enough for a No. 4 spot in the KCAC standings.

The scales tipped in favor of the Tabor men’s soccer team last week as the Bluejays picked up two more conference wins. The women’s team, meanwhile, lost twice.The men, who now stand at 11-6 overall and 6-2 in the conference, share the No. 2 spot in the KCAC with Ottawa. Meanwhile, the women fell to fifth place with a 4-4 slate in the conference and a 9-8 overall record.
Tabor was scheduled to play at the University of Saint Mary Tuesday to conclude the regular season.

Since they barely outscored Sterling, 219-213, Tabor tops the Warriors in the KCAC rankings. If they win their next two conference matches, Tabor has a home-court advantage for the first round of the conference tournament.

“We could have been a little bit cleaner in the first half,” coach Mike Gardner said, “but it worked out great and it was just an excellent game that we played all the way around.”
With the win, Tabor, now ranked 22nd in the NAIA, improved to 5-1 in the KCAC and 6-2 overall. The Bluejays remain a half game behind KCAC co-leaders Ottawa and Kansas Wesleyan at 6-1.
