TC football sets coaching staff

With the addition of special-teams co-coordinator Edward King, the Tabor College football coaching staff is now in place.Head coach Mike Gottsch describes King as someone with “great character” who will “make an immediate impact on the lives of students.”
The Bluejays’ newest addition will coach defensive line and outside linebackers as well as serving as special teams co-coordinator.
“I was looking specifically for a defensive coach,” Gottsch said. “Edward’s background and experience tie into exactly what I was looking for in an assistant.”
King most recently was defensive coordinator at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Okla.

Former Peabody-Burns High School standout Tommy Phillips signed a letter last week to play football at Tabor College this fall. Phillips will be transferring from the University of San Diego.
Tabor adds three more athletes by transfer

The Tabor College Athletic Department has announced the signing of additional athletes for the new school year.<p>Jason Aubrey, Bartlesville, Okla., has signed to participate in football. He will transfer from Emporia State University.<p>According to Mike Gottsch, Bluejay head coach, Aubrey was “an exceptional passing quarterback” at Bartlesville High School.<p>“He is very competitive and will bring solid leadership qualities to the team,” Gottsch said. “He is a young man of faith and will be a very positive influence on the Tabor campus.”At 6 feet, 1 inch and 190 pounds, Aubrey led Oklahoma Class 6A quarterbacks in yardage his senior season with more than 2000 yards.

Tabor athletes honored

Several Tabor College student-athletes were recognized for regional and national honors at its annual athletic banquet in May.In addition, Ashley Malcom, Lymon, Colo. was named Tabor’s “outstanding female athlete of the year” while Andrew Brubacher, Hillsboro, was named “outstanding male athlete of the year.”
The “outstanding scholar athletes of the year” were Emily Vogts, North Newton, and Lindsey Vogts, Moundridge.
Other honors included:
NAIA All-Americans, women’s basketball: Emily Vogts, third team; Donya Anderson, honorable mention.
NAIA all-region volleyball: Staci Frick, Lindsey Vogts, first team.

Tabor inks 4, 2 for men’s soccer

Women’s basketball—Brianne Greene of Littleton, Colo., has signed a letter of intent to participate in women’s basketball at Tabor College for the 2007-2008 season.“We are excited that Brianne has decided to continue her basketball career at Tabor,” coach Shawn Winter said. “Brianne will bring strong leadership and an outstanding Christian commitment to our basketball program and campus. We are thrilled that Brianne is coming to Tabor,” he added.
A 5-feet, 6-inches guard, Greene, played for Collegiate Academy of Colorado.
Greene posted the team’s best field goal percentage in her junior season.
Greene also graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors.
