Written by Janae Rempel Tuesday, 15 January 2013 14:27
“We struggled shooting from outside, and that allowed (Friends) to stay in their zone,” coach Shawn Reed said. “We also struggled rebounding and defending the post.”
Tabor made just four of 22 shots from behind the arc (18 percent) and finished with 32 percent shooting from the field (17-53).
The Bluejays fell behind by five at the start, but Janelle Rust scored the Bluejays’ first seven points to tie the game at the 15:27 mark. She finished with 20.

“I felt like we showed up on the offensive end all night,” coach Micah Ratzlaff said. “It wasn’t real hard finding a rotation tonight.”
Senior Ryan Chippeaux contributed a stellar performance, scoring a game-high 20 points.
Tabor opened the game with a 5-0 run courtesy of a Chippeaux basket followed by a three-point basket by Nick Sauer.

In a game played with high offensive intensity, getting to the charity stripe proved huge for the Bluejays, who cashed in on 30 of 37 free throws.
The Bluejays were slow coming out of the gate, settling for perimeter shooting instead of driving inside. Katlyn Mary opened scoring for Tabor with a three-point basket, but Southwestern took the lead at 18:29, 4-3, and then built an 18-8 lead by the 12:32 mark. The surge culminated in a 12-point margin, 28-16, with 7:38 left before half.
Momentum began to turn Tabor’s way late in the half.

The loss dropped the team to 8-6 overall.
“I thought we played well defensively, except we gambled a couple of times and it hurt us,” coach Shawn Reed said. “Offensively, we really struggled with their pressure and I thought we got tired at the end of the game.
“They did a really good job of defending our on-ball screens and we had a difficult time consistently taking what the defense was giving us.”
The Bluejays held a slim advantage as the second half began, but Hastings eventually tied the game, 44-44, with back-to-back three-pointers at 10:01.

The Tabor women’s basketball team split the difference in this week’s road non-conference match-ups, downing the AIB College of Business Tuesday, but falling to Oklahoma Christian University Saturday by three points after leading most of the game.“We played well at AIB College of Business,” said coach Shawn Reed. “We shot 82 percent in the second half as a team, which is very good.
“I am not sure if I have ever coached a team that has accomplished that feat.”
Oklahoma Christian—Tabor shot a sizzling 70 percent from three-point range in the first half of Saturday’s contest, taking an early lead.
A seven-point Eagles run as the clock wound down narrowed the Bluejay lead to 41-36 at the half.
Tabor continued its...
