The Tabor College track and field squads swept the team titles and turned in a handful of notable performances during their first meet of the season in McPherson Saturday.
“The first meet of the year is always a little scary because both coaches and athletes don't know what to expect,” coach Dave Kroeker said. “It was pretty cold and windy until late in the meet so good performances were made even more difficult.”

Written by Andrew Ottoson Wednesday, 19 March 2008 08:51The Tabor College baseball team opened conference play with one bang after another, pounding out 26 hits in last Wednesday’s doubleheader at Ottawa. Tabor’s Saturday games against Friends were rained out, setting the stage for a stretch of nine home games in six days.
“It’s going to challenge the pitching staff, but we’ve got enough arms rested that it’s not going to affect us greatly,” coach Chad Newhard said.
“We’re going to have to have some guys step up and play every game because of our lack of depth, so it’s important that we don’t run into knickknack injuries,” he noted. “We played seven games in four days in Texas earlier in the year—our guys are resiliant enough, and they showed...

The Tabor College baseball squad went 1-4 this week, going winless against MidAmerica Nazarene and William Jewell, then splitting a doubleheader Saturday with Central Christian in McPherson.
“As a whole, at this time of the season, it’s pretty obvious—when we play good baseball, that’s when we compete,” coach Chad Newhard said. “But when we give teams extra outs with walks and errors, that’s when we have a hard time competing.”
Tabor’s only win of the week came by a 6-3 margin in the second half of the set with Central Christian. Central defeated Tabor 7-6...
