The Tabor College volleyball team thumped Southwestern (25-11, 25-14, 25-11) in the opening round of the KCAC postseason tournament Saturday in Hillsboro.The Bluejays defeated Sterling (25-13, 25-18, 25-13) on Thursday, but the most important game of the week may have been Tabor’s five-game road win over Friends (25-23, 14-25, 13-25, 25-20, 15-12) Nov. 4 in Wichita.
Southwestern—The Bluejays came out firing and simply overwhelmed the Moundbuilders.
“This is our third time playing Southwestern, and we played them a little more cleanly than we did before,” coach Amy Ratzlaff said.

Road trips kick off TC b-ball season

The Tabor College women’s basketball team opened its non-conference slate with losses to Baker and Northwestern Oklahoma State.Despite the efforts of Andrea Robinson, Kirsten Watson and Eboni Sweat, Baker defeated the Bluejays 59-51.
Robinson led the team with 12 points while Sweat and Watson both scored 11.
Northwestern Oklahoma, an NAIA Division I squad picked 10th in the Sooner Athletic Conference, used a 53-point second half to defeat Tabor 90-71.
The Bluejays played a strong first half against the Rangers, and put together a 15-2 run midway through the second half to cut a 22-point deficit down to nine with 3:41 to go.
But Northwestern outscored Tabor 15-5 the rest of the way.

Addison qualifies for nationals

The Tabor College women’s cross-country team placed third at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference championship meet hosted by Bethany Saturday at Lindsborg Golf Course.Christina Addison qualified for the NAIA national meet.
Addison and Liz Kleinsasser earned all-conference recognition. Addison time of 20 minutes, 31 seconds earned her ninth place and all-conference, and Kleinsasser (15th, 21:10) earned honorable mention.
Jera Teselle (22nd, 21:55), Kelli Kopper (24th, 22:07) and Carrie Schroeder (29th, 22:22) rounded out the team scoring.
Tabor finished with 88 points and placed behind Southwestern (23 points) and Kansas Wesleyan (65).
The other KCAC school finished as follows: Bethel (99), Friends (120), Sterling (134)...

The Tabor College volleyball team defeated McPherson (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) and Kansas Wesleyan (25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19) to bump its conference record to 10-6.Against Kansas Wesleyan, the Bluejays were led by Jordan Crosson’s 15 kills and five blocks, but also maintained a well-balanced attack.
Gina Hullet, Ashley Cohlmia and Carly Kroeker all posted double-digit kill totals, and Audrey Schellenberg posted 42 assists in the four-game match.
Schellenberg (11 digs), Cohlmia (14) and Audra Atwell (17) anchored the back row.
Cohlmia pounded out 15 kills against McPherson, and Schellenberg, with 37 assists, averaged a fraction more than 12 per game.
Schellenberg was named “Setter of the Week” for the second consecutive week...
