TC softball 3-4 last week

The Tabor softball team went 3-4 last week for a 5-13 season record.Saint Mary—The Bluejays split their home doubleheader against College of Saint Mary Thursday, first dropping a 9-5 contest, then posting a 12-5 win.
“I felt we should have came out and swept (Saint Mary) at our place,” coach Suzanne Unruh said. “But we just couldn’t get it done.”
In the first game, Tabor scored two runs in the second inning, but Saint Mary countered with four runs in the third and five in the fifth for a 9-2 lead.
The Bluejays responded with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth, but the rally fell short.
Kyleen Condon (one run, two RBIs) and Brooke Tomten (one run, one RBI) each hit home runs for the Bluejays.

Tabor begins outdoor track and field season

The Tabor track and field team opened the outdoor season Thursday at the Southwestern Invitational in Winfield.“Both men’s and women’s teams had good first-meet-of-the-year days,” coach Dave Kroeker said. “A number of personal records were set on the track and in the field.”
Women—Leading the way for Tabor was senior Emily Post, who qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championship in both triple jump and high jump.
Post claimed second in triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 101?2 inches and in high jump (5-5).
Brielle Lund broke the school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 39 minutes, 41.06 seconds, to place second. That time surpassed the 40:12.80 record set by Christina Addison in 2010.

Bluejay men’s tennis team falls at Emporia

The Tabor men’s tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at Emporia State University March 11“All three doubles matches were closely contested with close games and exceptional play by both teams,” coach John Ruder said.
In No. 1 doubles, Kelyn Vix and Tyler Dort dropped an 8-5 decision to Keenan Smith and Bryson Dabney.
Sam Brucks and Jake Brucks fell 8-3 to Andrew Davids and Matt Edwards in No. 2 doubles, while Nate Panttaja and Darryn Davis lost to Mitch Kibbe and Kenton Hallowell, 8-3, in the No. 3 spot.
Panttaja gained the Bluejays’ sole victory of the day in a battle against Dabney in No. 3 singles.

Bluejays open KCAC with 4-0 sweep of Mac

On Friday, Tabor won 11-1 and 10-4.
“We played really well the first two games of the series,” coach Mark Standiford said. “We had good at-bats and our pitching was outstanding.”
In Game 1, the Bluejays claimed a 3-1 lead at the end of three innings, then added eight unanswered runs over the next two innings.
Kirk Rocha—KCAC Player of the Week—knocked two home runs for the Bluejays. The junior outfielder had three hits, scored three runs and drove in four in three at-bats.
