Short-handed Cougars will use extra effort to be competitive

In coach Kelly Steiner’s second year at the helm, the Centre High School football team hopes to build on the 5-4 record the Cougars posted last year in the 8-man Division I Eisenhower League.

But Centre will be shorthanded from the outset, having already lost a pair of would-be senior starters to injury. Weber is not expected to play this season...

After a 7-4 run to regionals out of the eighth district of Class 2-1A last season, Canton Galva football coach Zac Hoppes has 13 returning seniors and letter-winners this fall.

Seven players will be back to contribute to an offense that enabled returning senior quarterback Ted Regehr to throw for 2,186 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2006.

Injuries hinder Eagles in early season, but outlook still bright

With a new coach for the second time in as many seasons, and having posted a 7-28 record last year, the Canton-Galva High School volleyball team has set its sights on finishing with a winning record mark. That accomplishment has proven elusive in recent years despite the level of talent in the program.

Core group returns from Goessel's 8-2 football success in 2006

Coach Justin Coup’s football squad at Goessel High School put together an 8-2 record in 2006, winning their 8-man Heart of America league title and district championship.
