Daniel Jost scooped up the ball and returned it 42 yards to the Trojan 17-yard line. Four plays later, Jost made the leaping touchdown grab (top right photo) in the end zone to give Hillsboro an early 7-0 lead. Much has been made of the New England Patriots’ 9-0 start to the NFL season. Turn on a pre-game show, and a holographic representation of Terry Bradshaw’s cloned talking head will still be making a big deal out of the connection between the so-called Camera-Gate signals-stealing “scandal” earlier this year and the Patriots obvious inclination toward scoring more points than are minimally necessary to win.

What Bradshaw won’t say, and what I think is probably the most salient point to make about the Pats is this:

In last season’s AFC championship against the Colts, New England played the whole second half like they already had the game in the bag. They very plainly did not have the game in the bag, and ended up losing a game...

Tabor College came up literally a yard shy of its first KCAC football win of the season, losing at McPherson College, 13-6.

With a 7-point deficit to overcome and 1 minute, 22 seconds to mount a last-ditch drive, quarterback Anthony Davis tossed a 22-yard strike to Caleb Marsh and followed up with three quick carries for 27 yards, setting up a first-and-10 at the McPherson 15 with 22 seconds to go.

On first down, Davis went through his progressions and, finding...

Two quick touchdowns near the end of the second quarter transformed a close ball game into a rout Tuesday night, as Hillsboro rolled to a 48-13 victory at Sedgwick in bi-district play.

The win propelled the Trojans (6-4) into Saturday’s regional contest against Conway Springs (8-2), but the price of victory...

On a rare night when Eagles matched up against Eagles, Canton-Galva hung tough but ultimately fell short of defeating Olpe on the road last Tuesday night, 21-13.

At stake was an opportunity to face third-ranked Pittsburg-Colgan in Saturday’s Class 2-1A regional round.

After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, CGHS came up less than a yard shy of converting a fourth-and-short to start the second period.

Three plays later, Olpe wide receiver Bradley Argabright trotted into the end zone for a 40-yard catch-and-run set up by a play action pass. The point-after made it 14-0 at 7:38.

A solid kick return by Bryant Baldwin helped turn the tide. Five straight runs for positive yardage tipped the field position advantage in...
