“Most people want pay their fair share—no more,” said Marion County Appraiser Cindy Magill.
And that’s the expectation Magill and her staff are committed to meet when determining the value of commercial and personal property on which property taxes are based.
“The main goal of this office is to achieve fairness and equity (among) all taxpayers,” said Magill, who was re-appointed last year to a second four-year term by the county commissioners.
Most duties in the county appraiser’s office are bound by Kansas statutes.

Zion Lutheran offers VBS program

Zion Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 19 through July 23.

DVDs on Hillsboro celebrations now on sale through Chamber office

A two-set collection of DVDs featuring Hillsboro’s centennial and 125th anniversary celebrations are now available for purchase.
The 1984 Centennial DVD includes pig wrestling, period dress parades, beards, Kangaroo Court and more.
The second DVD includes all the activities from the 125th celebration, including recognition of mayors, beard judging and footage from the Fourth of July Eve event at the Schaeffler House.
The set is available at the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce or Hillsboro Furniture for $20.

According to David McCarron, adjunct professor at University of California Davis, “You must also replace the sodium and potassium along with the water. This is why athletes drink sports drinks like Gatorade, rather than just water.
