HHS students compete in regionals


Hillsboro High School vocal and instrumental students competed Saturday at the regional music festival hosted by Tabor College.

Individuals and groups who received a “I” rating will advance to the state music festival April 27 at Southeast of Saline High School.

For Hillsboro, that includes: the mixed trio (band); flute soloist Kennedy Klein; vocal soloists Ashley Bartel, Tyler Burst, Tyler Funk, Abigail Kliewer, Daniele Melton and Daniel Nelson; Spirit-N-Celebra­tion, SNC Women, SNC Men and the Mixed Vocal Ensemble.

Receiving “II” ratings were French horn soloist Allison Gray; vocal soloists Jordan Fryhover, Erika Just, Kate Litchfield and Taytum Miller; and the men’s and women’s vocal ensembles.

Receiving “III” ratings were the clarinet quartet and clarinet soloist Marah Franz.

Hillsboro band students are directed by Bruce Major, vocal students are directed by Lynn Just.
