Marion-Florence FFA members placed second at the South Central District Entomology Career Development Event Wednesday, Feb. 13.
Marion hosted the event for the South Central District along with food science, agribusiness management and agronomy career development events.
Students competing in the entomology event were required to complete a written test over insects and identify 50 sample insect specimens.
Marion placed second in the A-team division with Elizabeth Meyer placing fourth overall. The Greenhand team placed first with Nicholas Stuchlik placing first, Malachi Sippel fifth and Morgan Radtke eighth.
In the agribusiness management CDE, Caitlyn Maloney from Marion received ninth place individually. Participants were required to take a general-knowledge test over business management concepts related to agriculture. They also completed a problem-solving activity with net worth, cash flow, budgeting and a marketing problem.
Marion-Florence did not compete in the food science and agronomy events.
Goessel placed ninth and Centre 10th among the 10 teams competing in food science. Kevin Lewis of Centre was the third-highest individual.
Marion County school did not participate in the agronomy event.
