Former Hillsboro Star-Journal editor Grant Overstake has been hired as director of communications at Tabor College.
Overstake, a graduate of the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas, has worked as a reporter for the Wichita Eagle and Miami Herald.
Most recently, Overstake served as editor of the Hillsboro Star-Journal, where his work earned a dozen “Excellence in Newspaper Awards” from the Kansas Press Association.
Overstake, 50, also has served as an officer in The Salvation Army and as a pastor in the United Methodist Church.
“Grant’s experience in journalism, non-profit management, and ministry are ideally suited for his new role at Tabor," said Jim Elliott, vice-president for advancement.
Overstake and wife Claire, a fifth-grade teacher at Hillsboro Elementary School, have three college-age children.
