Tabor to present ‘The Crucible’ April 11-13

Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 11-13. Tickets are limited and may be purchased by contacting the student life office at 620-947-3121, ext. 1033. The Tabor College theater department will present “The Crucible” under the direction of Judy Harder April 11-13.

The shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the lab theater located in the basement of the Lorenz Administration Building.

Arthur Miller’s acclaimed “The Crucible” is the story of ordinary people caught up in a universal tragedy. Set in the context of the 17th century, the play follows the witch trials of Salem, Mass., a town torn apart by fear, vengeance and...

Goessel high school and junior high musicians were selected through audition for statewide honor groups this year.

 

  Five Goessel High School students performed in Kansas Music Educators Association ensembles at Century II in Wichita. Hillsboro Elementary School students pet a chicken held by Hillsboro High FFA member Nathan Unruh during the second annual petting zoo March 12. Groups of students followed a rotation of stops, where FFA members informed the children about the animals and exhibits. Participating members included Ethan Oborny (tractor), Bryce Roberts (sheep), Lauren and Lisa Geis (miniature horse), Andrew Meier (beef calf), Taylor Carlson (dairy calf), Maci Schlehuber (feeds), Nathan Unruh (chickens) and Kale Arnold (goats). Goessel junior high musicians compete at league festival

Five Goessel Junior High music groups received “I” ratings at the Wheat State League Music Festival March 5 at Goessel.

The GJHS band, choir, girls ensemble, boys ensemble and select mixed ensemble earned top scores.

The following students performed vocal solos: Tiana Base, Leah Booton, Olivia Duerksen, Eden Hiebert, Lauren Hiebert, Riley Jarvis, Emily Meier, Madeline Meier, Joshua Schmidt, Nathaniel Schmucker, Kaytlin Shipp, Autumn Strecker, Shelbi Stultz and Lanna Wagner.

Students who performed instrumental solos were Tiana Base, Leah Booton, Olivia Duerk­sen, Eden Hiebert, Lauren Hiebert, Riley Jarvis, Rachel Lyons, Emily Meier, Jennifer Meysing, Joshua Schmidt, Carson Sterk and Lanna Wagner.

Marion High welders win MIG welding competition

MarionFFAWeldingGroup Mark Meyer / Courtesy photo / Marion High welders win MIG welding competition Marion High School students received first place at the Kansas Welding Institute invitational MIG (metal inert gas) welding contest Friday, March 15. The contest was hosted by the North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit. Seven Marion students placed in the top 20. Aaron Molleker placed first, Clint Kroupa second, Patrick McCarty third, Zac Lewman seventh, Nick Meyer 10th, Clark Kroupa 16th and Cody Carr 18th. Team members were required to read and interpret blueprints to correctly place and perform five welds on 3/8-inch plate and to perform four welds on 1/4-inch plate.
