Hill competes at Lawrence show

CassidyHillDouglasCoDogShow Cassidy Hill, 16, a member of the Tampa Triple Ts 4-H Club, and her dogs participated in the Douglas-Leavenworth County Open Invitational Spring Dog Show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Lawrence on April 20. In Senior Showmanship, Cheyenne received second, missing first place by one-half. In Sub-Novice B, Ranger (pictured above) received first place. • The South Cottonwood 4-H Club met March 10 at the Hills­boro city building. There were 20 4-Hers, three leaders and 14 parents present.

Kelli Dyck and Grace Major led singing, and Malorie and Trudy Hein led recreation. Project talks were given by Mia Duerksen on puppy supplies, Ella Suderman on healthy puppies, Maddie Suderman on adopt a puppy, Jessi Dalke on chicken breeds and Charlie Peters on geology.

Hillsboro High School senior Tyler Burst proudly escorts his friends and classmates Letitia McClelland, Taylor Thiessen and Moriah Truitt during the promenade Saturday prior to the prom. Hillsboro was one of three of the schools in the Free Press distribution to celebrate prom that evening. Marion and Goessel also gathered for their annual celebration. Centre FFA team third at Newton Livestock evaluation

Centre High School FFA recently placed third at the Newton Invitational Livestock Evaluation. Members of the senior team are: (from left) Jared Barney, Karl Riffel, Chad Mueller and Cassidy Hill. According to Laura Klenda, FFA adviser, the senior team placed third in their division and Mueller placed ninth individually. In the Junior Division, Centre Greenhand members placed fourth. Those team members were Kyle Riffel, Kaleb Collett, Adam Makovec and Bryce Naerebout.
