The Mixed Winds Trio performed Beethoven’s “German Dance.” Kennedy earned a second medal as a flute soloist, performing Victor Herbert’s “Serenade.”

 

Lauren Geis and Bryce Roberts, a pair of Hillsboro High School seniors, were selected to receive $500 scholarships from the Marion County 4-H Endowment Fund. Pictured with them is Lyman Adams, Endowment Fund president. The winners were selected on their outstanding involvement in 4-H work.

PBHS alum receives $500 scholarship

Danielle Savage, a junior at Bethany College in Lindsborg and a 2010 graduate of Peabody-Burns High School, is being awarded a $500 scholarship from Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma for the 2013-14 school year.

The award is presented annually to a female high school senior or college student attending a college in Kansas pursuing a major in education.

The daughter of Ray and Patty Savage, Danielle will continue her studies as a senior at Bethany next fall majoring in elementary education and special education.

 

 

 

 

HHS robotics students fare well in ‘Sack Attack’

VexRobotixRobotWithSacks Robocop is successfully placing the sacks onto an upper platform.

All four of Hillsboro High School’s robotics teams made it to the semifinals of the Hillsboro VEX Sack Attack robotics tournament Saturday.

Team Die Hard, with robot Robocop, was comprised of operator Courtney Troyer and substitute Jordan Bezdek.

Team Ramrod, with robot 50 Cal, had operators Ethan Oborny and Tristan Hett.

Team The Average Joes, with robot Mammoth, was led by operators Bezdek and Evan Ollenburger.

Team The Tinmen, with robot Toto, had Erich Herbel and Garrett Foster as the operators.

The alliance of Team The Average Joes, with robot Mammoth and operators Bezdek and Ollenburger, with Hesston’s Team KGB Kangaroos Gone Bad, earned second place as tournament finalists.
