410 board hears from young artist

Fifth-grade artist Callie Arnold attended Monday’s USD 410 Board of Education meeting to share her experience winning the Kansas State Arbor Day Poster Contest.

“It expressed my artistic ability,” Callie said about her poster, titled “Trees are terrific and Kansas forests are too.”

Science teacher Rod Just said each year he has students create posters for the contest, adding this year was his first to have first-place winner since teaching at Hillsboro Elementary...

Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 11-13. Tickets are limited and may be purchased by contacting the student life office at 620-947-3121, ext. 1033. The Tabor College theater department will present “The Crucible” under the direction of Judy Harder April 11-13.

The shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the lab theater located in the basement of the Lorenz Administration Building.

Arthur Miller’s acclaimed “The Crucible” is the story of ordinary people caught up in a universal tragedy. Set in the context of the 17th century, the play follows the witch trials of Salem, Mass., a town torn apart by fear, vengeance and hysteria. In the midst of the chaos, John Proctor, a common farmer, faces his flaws and failures and struggles toward personal integrity.

Goessel high school and junior high musicians were selected through audition for statewide honor groups this year.
