Not all put pants on same way

When it comes to comparing sports teams or other competitive groups, the common cliche is that they all put on their pants one leg at a time. In effect it means everyone should be about equal to the task at hand.

For example, this is not always true. The Wildcats and Jayhawks probably put their pants on one leg at a time and look what happens year in and year out when it comes to the football teams and the outcomes of the games in the recent past.

Technology is amazing, annoying

Technology has never been more amazing than it is now—but it’s also never been more challenging. While you can do so much more, there is so much more that can go wrong. And baling wire doesn’t work anymore.

Case in point. For some time we have had some issues with our story submission and online store modules of our Free Press website. We believe we have fixed them now and apologize for any inconvenience we have caused those who have been trying to interact with us in this way. It’s all in the settings.

Reason to pursue an eye exam

Do you know when it’s time to get your eyes checked?

The other day I was walking back to the production area at our office and thought I saw a sheet cake with orange frosting sitting on the table. In reality it was just a piece of orange paper on top of a satchel. Or does it mean that I was very hungry?

Anyway, I have an appointment at the eye doctor down the street to get the old eyes checked this week.

I have a theory about why people park where they do for the Arts and Crafts fair. I think it’s like the flocks of birds that have been hanging around town the past few weeks.

One day they are all over here, then the next day they are all over there. I think people change where they park based on what happened the previous...

Losing a credit card unsettling

Losing one’s credit card is a very unnerving experience as I now know firsthand.

Last week when I opened my wallet to pull out my card, it was missing. What a shocker.

My first thought was that someone was using it and charging it up to the hilt or worse.

Then I came to my senses and put my “Major Crimes” TV show training to use. One of the first things they do is check to see what activity has appeared on the victim’s credit card.

So, I went online and looked up my transaction history and saw that the last time I had used it was a week prior, when I charged lunch at a major chain restaurant in a nearby town while treating a customer to lunch.
