Brownback offered few specifics
In his trek through Marion County, Sen. Sam Brownback understandably had little time to answer questions. I was at Country Lakes Cafe when he stopped there and spoke to the choir. His talking points were so general that one can’t be blamed for wishing for more specific answers about his plans.
For example, what “restraints on small businesses” would he remove? OSHA? Minimum wage? Forty-hour work week? Child labor? Workman’s comp? Equal opportunity employment?
Likewise, when he spoke in such a disparaging manner about “Obamacare” and said it should be the first thing Kansas overturns, what exactly does he want to get rid of first? Coverage for preexisting conditions? Allowing children to stay on their parents’ insurance until they are 26 years old? Insuring people with preexisting conditions?
Maybe he’d prefer universal health care, like the rest of the civilized world? Probably not.
The biggest question I have is what exactly did he and the rest of the Senate Republicans do all year? Why should we trust him now to run the state we live in?
