Good to hear about man’s ‘new home’

I want to say thank you, Karen Clark-Elliott, for writing about Kenny Johnson (Letters, July 13). I have lived in Peabody 18 years and have known Kenny as long as I can remember.

I really appreciate that the citizens of Hillsboro have made him feel as welcome in his “new home” as we did here in Peabody.

Kenny, I am so happy that you are happy in your new home.

Kristi Silvernale,

Peabody

Benefit tour aided by numerous people

The annual Flowers in the Flint Hills, a benefit for the Marion City Library, took place Saturday, June 12. It was again a great success, drawing garden enthusiasts from all surrounding counties, as well as the Wichita and Kansas City metro areas.

The garden tour committee thanks the Hillsboro Free Press, and particularly Patty Decker, for covering the event. We also would like to thank our gardeners: Pam Bowers and Marion Crofoot, Kris and Kevin Burkholder, Mary Ann and Keith Conyers, Jan Davis, Shirley Jo and Rocky Hett and Teeny and Pete Williams.

Also a heartfelt thanks to all the Marion city staff and the hundreds of volunteers in Marion and at the Marion County Lake, who rushed to clean up our beautiful community after the huge wind storm that took place only one week prior to the tour.

We look forward to seeing you all next year at Flowers in the Flint Hills.

Jeanie Thomas for the Flowers

in the Flint Hills Committee (Janet Marler, Pam Bowers, Janie Meierhoff, JeaniceThomas, Margaret Wilson)
